Share of Local Voice, or SoLV, is the percentage of your service area where your business shows up in the top three of the Google Maps pack. Local Falcon popularised the metric. In Australia, Visible measures it for home and outdoor trades: I scan the Maps pack point by point across a grid covering your whole area, then report the share of those points where you rank top three. It is the number most trades have never seen, because when you search your own business name you always see yourself at the top. Above 90 percent means you own the area. Under 40 percent means you are leaking jobs to whoever does show up. The gap between your rank at your own front door and your rank three suburbs over is exactly where your leads are quietly going, and SoLV is the one figure that makes that leak visible.

Traditional SEO works to rank your website in the ten blue links on a Google results page. That still matters, but two things now sit in front of those links.
